Whangara trip

On the 11th of june 2018 we went to whangara to learn about the different grasses that they grow. Andrew and renee showed us how to do these cages and Andrew showed us how fast the wind is going and where the wind is heading. Andrew also showed us how much water the cattle drink and they drink 80 liters a day.

I was really fun learning all of what rennae does to the cages she keeps them in one spot for 2 weeks and then moves the cages to another spot. She also brings this grass momater to test the height of the grass grows.

Andrew also told us heaps of facts about the trees and about the red clover some were lucky and found a four leaf clover. There were 5 different types of grasses there was Ryegrass,Plantain,Red clover, croksfoot and lokus.

In the nursery there were two types of grass there was willows to stop the erosion happening by the river banks and the other grass was called popolas wich was to stop the erosion happening by the hills.

I had so much fun learning about the different grasses that Renee and Andrew showed us and I liked learning about all of the knowledge that they knew and that I know now.
